Star Wars vs. Star Trek

Hello my fellow ACP-ers (Never used that term before and hopefully never will again)

As many of you (if not all of you) know, the Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens has been released and many of you (if not all of you, again) have already seen it. Just remember guys, if you HAVE seen the film, please do not spoil it for others on the xat chat (There will be bans). Also, I had a few… debates… regarding whether my science fiction fandom Star Trek was better than that of Star Wars. In this post, I shall review (as objectively as possible) which franchise would win in an all out fight. Read on for my argument!

Of course, all of this is opinion, and I must say that I do love both franchises, it’s just that I love Star Trek more (here’s proof for those of you who are still doubtful):

Now then, onto the argument over which is better (Just saying, I already know that I will get many hate comments, so I’ll try to keep this as objective as possible).

If Star Wars and Star Trek would clash in an epic all out war, which would win? Well let’s examine this shall we:

In Star Wars, you have the Empire and the Rebel forces. Let’s combine these for a moment.

In both of these, you have users of the Force (Jedi and the Sith) as well as huge fleets of battleships (Imperial Star Cruisers) and the super weapon of the Death Star, which with one epic shot can destroy an entire planet.

The Empire is gigantic, spanning over an entire galaxy, where rule and law is based off of one man’s plans and his subordinates follow his orders out of fear and/or greed.

The fastest speed of every ship in the Star Wars universe is light speed (Warp 1 in Star Trek terms) except for the Millenium Falcon, which can outrun these ships using its augmented Hyperdrive, which is way faster than any Star Trek ship (it can reach the Andromeda Galaxy in only a few days, compared to the Enterprise’s millennia).

Star Trek, on the other hand, is a universe that doesn’t limit itself to two warring forces like Star Wars. Indeed, Star Trek hosts a wondrous amount of alien races, and develops them (The aliens in the Tatooine Cantina weren’t developed as a species or source of government. Compared to the Star Trek races, its like comparing a page to a book.). Among the mostly known are the Vulcans, the Klingons, the Romulans, the Borg, the Q, and so on. (I shall leave the Q out of this, however, because then Star Trek would win instantly. For those of you who don’t know, the Q are basically gods.)

In the Star Trek universe, there are these “empires”, whether democratic or not: The United Federation of Planets, the Klingon Empire, the Romulan Empire, and the Cardassian Empire. These empires all have warp capable ships (travelling faster than light – therefore faster than every ship in Star Wars except for the Millenium Falcon) with weapon technology that surpasses the Star Wars lasers.

The proof for this is such:

Here is an excerpt from Star Trek: The Next Generation, in Season 2 Episode 4, “The Outrageous Okona:”

WORF: Still no response. Captain, they are now locking lasers on us.
RIKER: Lasers?
WORF: Yes, sir.
PICARD: Lasers can’t even penetrate our navigation shields. Don’t they know that?

As this shows, lasers do barely any damage to the Star Trek ships. Therefore, in an all out fight, the only thing that could destroy the Star Trek ships are the Force users. However, since their numbers are lowered (episodes 4-6), it would be nearly impossible for them to win against Star Trek. I will also point out that in Star Trek: The Next Generation, Season 2 Episode 15 “Pen Pals,” the Enterprise D was able to recreate the surface of a planet, rendering the destruction of everything else. Also, in Star Trek the Wrath of Khan, the Genesis torpedo recreates the planet’s surface and destroys the previous one. If this was used on an inhabited planet, everyone – and everything – on that planet would be destroyed. Therefore, any Star Trek ship can accomplish what the Death Star does, just without the overkill to completely destroy the planet.

Therefore, in my opinion, Star Trek would win against Star Wars in an all out fight.

I am looking forward to seeing your comments below, and see your thoughts on the matter.

    • In addition to stating your opinion, can you please back it up? I’d love to hear both sides of the argument.

      • No. Its star wars, doesnt need to be backed up

        • Just because your franchise is pronounced a classic from its popularity over the decades and its success, doesn’t mean your opinion that star wars is better settles the debate. It’s like if a prosecutor in a trial said “this man killed this woman” and that settled it, that that man was guilty. It doesn’t work that way. And besides, Sidie is right. This is only a matter of opinion, it doesn’t settle which is better. But as you would notice, in the post I said that it wasn’t about which is better. It is about which franchise would win in a war had they been crossed over.

      • It’s just opinion. I find Star Wars better as well and find Star Trek disgraceful. There is no better or worse here because it’s a matter of opinion.

    • Ah, another Trekkie in this community eh? I can relate to you, for I’ve also seen every single episode. I assume you’re saying that TNG (Star Trek: The Next Generation) is your favorite? I must say that it is my favorite too, although Voyager’s season finale was epic… My parents literally made me re watch it right after we saw it for the first time XD

  2. Star Wars is better

  3. THIS IS AMAZING ANCHORE TO TAMI. Star wars is better……But to be honest the new movie did suck although it made off so much money. It was totally not worth it

  4. For me Star Wars and Doctor Who are the best fandoms. The force awkens is the best. 4-6 are a close second and 1-3 are ok i guess. They would be better without jar jar binks though. I will be mostly refering to the origional ones. So star wars is the epic battle between good and evil. In 1-3 the good being the jedi and the republic and the bad being the sith and the seperatists. With the awesome lightsaber duels and battles between clones and droids, whats not to love. And may I add that in the extended universe, If you count the clone wars and rebels you get to meet asoka tano who can really kick butt. We also female bad asses in all the movies which is awesome for everyone. With padme in the first 3 and Leia in the second 3, And dont even get me started on Rey, once again, whats not to love? And in the origional trilogy, We see a twist on good and bad with the empire and the sith in power and the rebel allience as the good guys. There is also the fauther son story of annikan and luke which blew everyones minds, So if u ask me star wars is better but thats just me.

  5. BIAS

  6. Y’all arguing over Star Wars and Star Trek but I haven’t watched either 😥

  7. The Republic and Sith had governments part of the republic governments was the Jedi council

  8. Star Wars is better. Because Star Wars isnt shoot a laser and nothing happens. Nah we cool

  9. Same Edwin but I did watch a bit of star wars but a long time ago 😥
